First production meeting for The Goop. Can’t remember now if I saw Lily’s email before or after 12. Regardless, ended up responding around 5 pm with a proposed meeting time of 6:30 – 8:30 pm at “the office”. Thinking about it now, I must have read it earlier in the day. She said after 6, so I didn’t feel any urgency to respond. Still, not my finest hour.
Planned to have 5 attend, ended up with 7. Didn’t mind the crowd, maybe I’m starting to feel the stagnancy of familiarity. I’ll call it comfort and greet the excitement. Spent the first hour – hour 1/2 talking script. Probably pushed too hard on the minutia of the Goop’s modus operandi. I have to wonder if intention is antithetical to surrealist satire. Maybe those terms are too broad.
At least from that conversation, we got some good structure pillars. Clear objective (the kiss), couple of new gags with callbacks, and villainy being a consistent trait. Again, the more structured and “clean”, the more I fear losing the B-movie charm. It’ll be a learning experience.
Finally got onto the meat. How on earth are we doing some of these SFX? Some decent ideas, going to be a lot of silhouette and cutting around action. Still, a cool idea with the reversed slime on wax paper when he comes under the door.
We’re dropping a chunk of change on this, but I like the early involvement. Never EPd before. It’s nice to be listened to, not my favorite for people to be walking on egg shells for fear of money being taken away. Nice to be listened to though…something to think on. Sent some sound and camera equipment recs after fixing up the email AGAIN. Switching the domain to WordPress was an investment for sure, I’m waiting for it to really start paying back.
